This week second graders worked hard to finish their geometric stained glass windows (now on display in the hall). Our next math adventure will have us exploring multiplcation using arrays. We will be creating city-scapes using arrays for various multiplication facts.
Students also continued to map out the story line, visuals, and Ozobot movements for their Ozobot playground. I'm reviewing everyone's fairy tale organizers, and our next step will be to start drawing our playgrounds!
Students also spent some time playing the game SET this week. In this exciting and challenging game, students have to think quickly and visually spot a "SET," or group of three cards where each of 4 attributes is either all the same or all different. Call "SET" too fast and lose points. Call "SET" and identify a set, earn points! Second grade has decided they want to have a SET tournament and are challenging some first graders! We'll practice for a few more weeks to prepare before we take on a tournament. Here is an example of what a round of set my show.

Remember there are four attributes: color, number, shading, and shape. Each attribute must either be the same in a set or different. So here is an example of a set:
So this is a set because - all SHAPES are different, the SHADING is the same, the NUMBER of shapes is different, and the COLOR is the same on all three cards.
