This week second graders got to meet and code Ozobots. Ozobots are tiny robots, measuring 1 inch in height and diameter, which come with color sensing technology, for recognition of patterns, lights, colors, and codes, with automatic detection functionality for physical and digital playing surfaces. Students learned about the parts of Ozobots and how to calibrate and create codes for the Ozobots to follow.
Their first challenge was to correctly place 5 codes on a playground so that the Ozobot could get from his "home" to the "shop."

In reading / LA, we continued our work with the Interact Unit - Weather Detectives. This week we looked at the profiles for our last two "persons of interest" and determined if they were suspects in the case. With 5 suspects to examine, we began solving puzzles to help us eliminate suspects. We completed a fun logic puzzle to determine that Juan Sum Light was not the culprit, decoded a secret message to find that Bob Blizzard is not the culprit, and we began a very complicated word search that will help us eliminate a third suspect. Next time we are together, we'll finishing solving the case of McGee's missing weather data and start a fun project on severe weather!
