This week in math we focused on telling time to the hour, half hour, quarter hour, 5 minute interval, and minute. We began by examining the tick marks on the clock and discussing how each tick mark represents one minute. Additionally, we focused on what happens to the hour hand as the minute hand travels around all 60 minutes on the clock. Next, we played a fun balloon pop game on the Smartboard to practice telling time. The students rocked this game!
Students were then given a contract to work on. They could choose 3 activities from the contract (which contained nine options). Here is a peek at the contract students are working on!

Build Yourself Wild - Animal Adaptations
To bring together science and writing, we created our "wild selves" using a fun website from the Wildlife Conservation Society New York Zoos and Aquariums (see link below). Once students created their "wild selves" they then began to write paragraphs introducing their creature and describing it's unique physical adaptations and how they help them survive in their environment.
