Over the last couple of weeks, students have been studying fairy tales. This has been an exciting unit as they explored the parts of a fairy tale and even read alternate versions of fairy tales.
Students have been working in class to write their own fairy tales. Additionally, we have been exploring how to code Ozobots using an online coding program called Ozoblockly. By connecting blocks of code together, students are able to write code to load into the Ozobot to make him do a variety of things. We explored the Ozoblockly website and all of the codes that are available. Next, we watched a quick video version of Beauty and the Beast. As a group, we worked to draw a quick model of the first scene in the story and then coded Ozobot to be a character in the story. Ozobot was the merchant wandering through the woods and onto the palace grounds of the beast. He was confronted by the beast and then ran back home! This was all done in preparation for the students to take the fairy tales they are writing and code the Ozobot to act out the story! It's going to be a lot of work, but also a lot of fun!!!!
