Happy New Year! It has been a joy to be back with the students! They all seemed to have had a wonderful winter break!
During our first week back, we participated in a Winter Carnival Review for math. Students were given 25 review problems covering all of the content learned throughout the year. For every 5 questions that they answered correctly, they were allowed to go and play a carnival game for a chance to win prizes! The carnival was set up in Mrs. Owen's room and included activities like:
Basketball Toss
Touchdown Try Out
Snowball Golf
Tic-Tac-Toe Toss
Puzzle Time
The students had a wonderful time, and everyone did an exceptional job proving that their math skills were as sharp as ever! Great job!
In reading / language arts, we began a unit on snow. Throughout this unit we will be doing a variety of activities designed to help us gain a better understanding of snow and snowflakes. We will end the unit with a presentation on snow!
This week students started thinking about snow. After completing the K and W sections of a KWL chart (K-know, W-what to know, L-learned), students watched a fun Brainpop video about snow and began brainstorming a list of indoor and outdoor activities to do on a snow day!
