Over the last two weeks, we have been exploring patterns in math. The students have examined patterns that repeat, shrink, or grow and have used their sharp math skills to identify the rule various patterns follow.
Last week, after an introductory lesson, students where then given the chance to work some pattern problems on their own. Equipped with an iPad, students visited various "magic door" cards. Their job was to read the question on the "magic door" and determine which "key" (or answer) was correct to unlock the door. Whichever key they chose, they used the iPad to scan the QR code to see if they were right!

This week, students continued to apply their understanding of patterns as they competed against each other in a fun reindeer game! Students worked in teams to move their reindeer along a game board by answering pattern questions.
Thanksgiving Analogies & Writing
During our reading / language arts time together, students worked on completing some Thanksgiving analogies. They had to apply their understanding of analogies and determine the relationships in the first part of the analogies in order to figure out what word would best complete the second part of the analogy.
Following the Thanksgiving analogies, students then had to answer some flexible thinking questions. Using their responses, they then practiced writing complete sentences!
