This week during math we extended our study of graphing by gathering data from our classmates through a snowman glyph. Students created their snowman to represent various facts about themselves (if they were boys or girls, how long they liked to play in the snow, what their favorite snow day activity is, etc.). Once the snowmen were complete, we displayed them together on the board and used tally marks to gather the data. Finally, we began to construct a bar graph showing the data from the question about everyone's favorite snow day activity.
Next week, we will finish making our graphs (with bars that run horizontal and a scale that counts by 2s), and do some fun winter problem solving puzzles!

Christmas Song Picture Puzzles
This week we used our thinking powers to figure out some popular Christmas songs hidden in pictures! Students worked together to discuss what each picture was showing and then used that information and their knowledge of Christmas songs to match a song to the picture. Here are some examples:
