This week we played a game of Roll & Write to review fact family concepts. Students worked in teams to role a large die, each side of which contained three numbers. They then had to create a fact family using those three numbers. As play progressed, Mrs. Owen threw out even larger numbers (some to the hundreds and thousands) to see if they could apply their understanding of the patterns we see in fact families to make a fact family with larger numbers. This also proved how skilled the first graders are at comparing larger numbers! Way to go kiddos!
Main Idea & Detail Paragraphs Published!
This week we published our writing samples involving main idea and detail. I am so proud of how hard the students worked! From receiving their main idea and researching supporting details on Pebble Go, to writing a rough draft and typing up their final copy, the students really put their best effort into their work! All work including the graphic organizer used for note taking during research, the rough draft, and a copy of the final published piece will be coming home soon! Way to go!
